Some Digital Photos
By Lonnie Walker
On this page is a sampling of my digital photos, this page is in no way
a complete representation of all of my work. I will be
adding to these as I see fit, and may even change the photos around. I have
finally learned how to make thumbnails, so, if you have visited this page in
the past, it will now load faster.
Below are some photos that I took in Charleston South
Carolina in January 2004, I used a Canon Power Shot S400 Digital Elph. The
S400 is a 4 megapixel point and shoot that is the same size as a pack of
cigarettes, you can literally carry it in your pocket ready for use at a
moments notice.
All of my photos are optimized for printing, so,
they may not appear quite as nice on the web as they do in person. Most of
the photos on this page are matted, framed and are on display in our home.

January in Charleston

Matted in white, and framed in black, this photo at first
appears to be a Black and White, until you notice the subtle colors.
A Gated Window
This was just one of several ground level, gated windows
that surround the base of a church in Old Town Charleston. I found the
contrasting textures and details interesting.
A Charleston Morning
This one, also matted in white and framed in black gives
me the feeling of a sunrise beginning a new day.
I have another version of this photo that I did in a very
high contrast Black and White, that version is very somber. I call it
"A Charleston Mourning"
Flowers in the French Quarter
This is just a bright and cheerful image, it was taken in
the "French Quarter" of Old Town Charleston. Parts of the photo
look like I had the camera tilted when I took this, other parts look
perfectly in plumb. The pink building was one of those that was severely
damaged in the 1881 earthquake. The wall at the extreme right, (out of
view), has a bow in it that is about 3-4 feet out.
Afternoon Sun
This is a sunroom on a home down by "The
Battery". I just thought that it is an interesting study in contrasts,
and the sky was very blue that day.
In the photo, the building looks gray, it is, it is a
color called "Charleston Green".
Midnight Gas lamp
On our way back to our hotel room, a little after
midnight, I spotted this gas lamp on the building across from our hotel. For
no other reason than I like gas lamps, I took the picture.
The next series of photos were taken in our
backyard, unless otherwise noted, I used a Canon Digital EOS 10D. The 10D is
a 6.3 megapixel digital SLR that is more capable of taking photos than I am,
it approaches medium format in capabilities.
On Walker's Pond 1
On Walker's Pond 2
These two photos lose a lot when sized for web
viewing, they are optimized for printing and look stunning matted in white,
and framed in rustic green frames.
I have been intending to repair that dock, but, it looks
really good in photos.
A Bird House
This is just a bird house that sits on the privacy
fence behind our pool. This photo is still in process.
A Water Lilly
Everybody has to do at least one Water Lilly, heck,
Claude Monet practically made a career out of painting them. I just happen
to have a pond, and this one was in bloom, so I photographed it. The
Dragonfly stopped buy to see what was going on. This one really looks much
better in print than it does on the web.
A Water Lilly 2
The same day....different flower . The
pond was quit still that day, so I decided to do two water lilies.........well.....that
I have displayed so far.
Weeds
Everybody shoots
flowers. I thought that I would do something different, so, I shot
these weeds that were growing around my pond. An excellent excuse to get out
of yard work.
Birdbath
This is a bird bath in my back
yard.........damn I bet that your tired of seeing my back yard by now.
A Prairie Sunset
This photo was taken Thanksgiving day from the steps
of the old High School Cafeteria in Garfield Kansas. For this photo I
used my Canon Power Shot S400 Digital
Elph.
I hope that you found this just a little
interesting, if not, at least it didn't cost you anything.
